Uber has introduced its e-mobility product, One Electric, in Kenya as part of its shift towards electric vehicles. This marks Uber's third product launch in Kenya this year, following safety features like audio recording and the integration of M-PESA into its payment system.
Greenwheels Africa, an e-mobility company, manages fleet ownership, maintenance, and charging.
Ghanaian fintech startup, Float, reportedly incurred a ₦5 billion loss when it attempted to profit from the foreign exchange crisis in Nigeria. Prior to this, the startup had also fallen victim to a scam by an exchange merchant.
South African insurtech startup LeaseSurance has secured a seed funding round totaling $161,000. Fedgroup Private Capital led the investment.
In 2022, Nigerian fintech startup Piggyvest paid out approximately ₦400 billion, bringing the total payouts since its inception to over ₦1.1 trillion.
