This week, we asked people to share the kindest thing someone they love has ever done for them. Their responses revealed something beautiful: love shows up in the smallest, most thoughtful moments. Here's what they told us:
Neemah: Taking my kids as theirs — you know, those people you can leave your kids with and not even feel the need to call or check on them? Bliss.
AJ: Cutting me off. Aren't we all scared of love in our 20s? How come your heart is whole? Yeah, it opened my eyes. She is temporary, everyone else is... the only thing permanent is the fear of losing them.
Teniola: He had promised to come spend the evening with me and I was looking forward to him coming. On his way, he called me that his tyre had gone flat and he couldn't leave the car alone until he found a mechanic and got it fixed, and by the time all that was going to happen, he wouldn't be able to make it to mine. I was so sad and I'm sure he could hear the disappointment in my voice as I said okay because it wasn't his fault. And then he goes, "You really want to see me right?" And I say yes, so he says "Give me a minute" and drops the call. He called me 20 minutes later to say that he had begged his brother to come stay with the car and that he was on his way to me. Oh lord, I felt totally considered as a person — you should have seen the smile on my face. And when he got to mine, he came with a small package and told me to open it, this was after I had jumped on him. It was filled with chunks of roasted turkey which were my absolute favourite. When I asked him why and how he was able to pull it off, he said, "Joy, I knew they were your favourite, so I asked my brother to bring some along with him." Y'all, I felt so considered and thought of, that he was thinking of me and that I wasn't an afterthought. It's been 3 years and we are no longer together, but I've never forgotten it as one of the kindest things ever done for me.
Ifeoluwa: For me, it's seeing them healthy and thriving.
Fatimah: Checking up on each other's growth and personal development.
Ada: They offered to pay for my therapy when I was struggling.
Sarah: Mostly friendships. A friend added my sons to his will. Three of my friends watch my flights whenever I travel. Doesn't matter if it's a 14-hour or 32-hour flight. They'll monitor online until they're sure I am safe. My friend wrote me a poem every day after my last miscarriage until I had the courage to leave my bed. She wrote and sent a poem every day. One of my friends sends me a handwritten letter for all my birthdays. I've known him for 10 years now. And now recently, my friends (including someone who wasn't even in the country) are flying in or travelling into Abuja to watch me read.
Abdul: A lot, I will say. But the kindest is that she sacrificed her joy for mine. We’ve been dating, you know how it is when you’re not so sure you’ll end up marrying someone, and then something happens that makes you think, wow, no one else would do this for me.
We both went to polytechnic, and we both had the intention of furthering our education. Her parents wanted it, and she wanted it too. We both took JAMB and post-UTME, and we both got admission. But unfortunately, due to lack of finances, I couldn’t go, so she stayed behind too.
After that, I told myself I must become the man this person deserves. I challenged myself, pushed harder, tried to change the status quo — and here we are today. I still carry it in my heart to help her live that life she put on hold for me.

Qwinex: Being consistent in their communication and letting their words match their actions.
Amaka: They sent me flowers and a box of chocolate on a blue day. I wasn't expecting it, and it made me really happy.
Doyin: My mom. When I had my surgery, she never slept. I still don't know how she was able to do it. If I moved, she moved with me. If I stood up to get anything, even to pee at the dead of the night, she'd be up with me. That time, too, I remember I was hungry, and she said I should give her 2 hours max to go to the market and be back to cook. This woman went to the market, came back, and pounded yam for me. She stopped pounding years back because of the pain it caused in her chest, but she did it for me, which was very "motherly." I cried while eating, though, because I felt guilty. I told her it was the pain from my stitching that caused the tears, but I was really grateful.
Chinonso: Bought slippers for me on a rainy day after church so my shoes wouldn't get ruined — and that was our first time talking.
Grace: Blood donation. A friend donated two pints of his blood to meet the required blood donation for the myomectomy surgery I did. This act earned him a permanent space in my heart.
These moments remind us that love's true power often lies in thoughtful, quiet, and deeply personal gestures. Whether it's taking on responsibility, offering unwavering support, or simply noticing someone's needs, each act of kindness builds a bridge between hearts.
What about you? What is the kindest thing someone you loved has ever done for you? We'd love to hear it.
