Moniepoint, a major Nigerian payments startup, experienced a successful 2023 despite challenges in the country’s financial services industry. The fintech recorded an average of 433 million monthly transactions across various channels and concluded the year with a total of 5.2 billion transactions.
DXwand, an AI startup operating in Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), secured $4 million in Series A funding. The funding round was led by Shorooq Partners and Algebra Ventures, with participation from Dubai Future District Fund, a previous investor.
Nigerian edtech startup AltSchool Africa has expanded to Kenya, its second-largest market by revenue. The move is driven by the increasing traction AltSchool has experienced in Kenya, and the expansion aims to provide hands-on support to Kenyan customers and improve local payment processing.
